Exciting Changes in Downtown Santa Rosa: New Breweries, Dining, and Business Growth
The revitalization of downtown Santa Rosa is underway, and there are many exciting things happening! In December of 2024 Cooperage Brewing opened up a new downtown location at 575 Ross Street in a former printing press building. The vibrant art murals, pinball machines, and pool table create a perfect atmosphere for their delicious handcrafted beers. They have a variety of food trucks that set up shop at this location so check their website or social media to see which type of grub will be there and when it will be served. If a sit down meal is preferred, there are a wide variety of new options downtown ranging from Augie’s French (love the duck confit and may get the courage up to try the escargot) to Downtown Barbeque (best brisket tacos I’ve ever eaten).
The City of Santa Rosa is “Reimagining Downtown” and taking a survey to get feedback on creating pedestrian friendly areas of downtown that will be closed to auto traffic. This can potentially expand outdoor spaces and create more opportunities for outdoor dining. During Covid many people enjoyed the outdoor parklets and this seems to be expanding on that idea, improving walkability, reducing traffic congestion, and creating a social community space. The survey is open until March 31 so please go and give them your feedback so that future decisions reflect what the community wants.

A tie-in to commercial real estate that is particularly exciting is the announcement of the City of Santa Rosa’s new Business Concierge Program. This program is designed to assist both new and existing businesses in their development process. The main point that caught my attention is their assistance in securing permits and licenses to open for business and their aim to help streamline the process. They also will offer support in location selection, business planning, and technical guidance. This program will offer businesses a partner at City Hall to help them navigate their development. It’s really great to see the city support the people who want to open or grow a small business. For more information please email or visit the link below.
