John Mattern, "The Ranchman" since 1976, has probably sold more ranches, vineyards and wineries than any other realtor in the past 30 years. After a brief dip in the market following 2000 there is now a renewed interest in rural property. Properties that have languished on the market for years are suddenly getting offers. Prospective buyers are filling the local hotels and visiting "the Wine Country" from all parts of the world.

"Right now, we have some excellent vineyard property listed," says Mattern, "sellers are responding to the new demand and ready to make deals." We have ranches from 1000 acres to 20 acres. We have vineyards with big estate homes in the Russian River area, Knights Valley and Alexander Valley. We try to offer property that is the best there is and from proven areas as well as emerging markets such as the Anderson Valley in Mendocino County. We think Philo and Boonville are hot areas and excellent places to place money into land or even commercial real estate.
